To everyone who looks to the sky

A letter from SkyPhotos to our community

Dear SkyPhotos community,

We hope this letter finds you well.

Whenever engines roar across a clear sky, wings cut through a sea of clouds, or sunset turns a silver fuselage gold, there are people ready to raise a camera and preserve the beauty and scale of flight. SkyPhotos was created for that enduring passion for aviation, wherever it may take us.

Aviation photography has long been a small but passionate community. Some wait at airports from dawn to dusk for the perfect departure or arrival. Others photograph landscapes from the air or document aircraft types and the history of civil aviation. Yet strong aviation images were scattered, photographers lacked a place for their work, and enthusiasts had nowhere dependable to discover and collect it.

We began with a simple purpose: to bring those people together and build a home in the cloud for aviation photography.

From the beginning, SkyPhotos has stayed true to that purpose: built for the love of aviation and respectful of every press of the shutter. We collect authentic, high-resolution, original images—from airliners and general aviation to airports, aerial views and the changing light around flight—so that moments scattered across the world can be preserved in one place.

We know what each submission can require: hours waiting for the right light, long journeys, careful settings and genuine dedication behind the lens. That work deserves respect and visibility. Our review standards protect photographers’ work and help every strong image find its audience.

For every visitor, we select clear, authentic and varied photos that balance technical quality with visual appeal, making it easy to enjoy the beauty of aviation.

We have grown from a handful of photos into a collection of thousands, and from a small niche site into a creative community for aviation photographers across the country. That progress belongs to everyone who contributes, visits and supports SkyPhotos. Thank you to the photographers who travel and share their work, to the enthusiasts who bring warmth to every image, and to every user who has stayed with us while we learned and improved.

The sky is vast and the search for the next image never ends. SkyPhotos will continue to remember why it began:

SkyPhotos encourages everyone to take part in sharing photos and advancing aviation photography. We value each photographer’s development and use thoughtful feedback to help people improve.

We will keep connecting people who share this passion, documenting the skies and protecting the work that captures everyday civil aviation and the wonder above the clouds.

May we keep following light across mountains and seas, using our lenses as wings and our passion as a heading, sharing clear skies and remarkable aircraft along the way.

May every glance upward reveal something beautiful;
and may every passion continue to soar.

Nishikata, founder of SkyPhotos
